AC Installation & System Replacement
Manual J load-sized · Carrier · Trane · Lennox · Goodman · Bosch · permit-pulled, old unit hauled away
What goes into a proper install
Manual J Load Calc
Real engineering math, not tons-per-square-foot. Accounts for your insulation, windows, ceiling heights, duct capacity, and the desert ambient your system has to overcome. Right-sized systems run longer cycles and last longer.
Equipment Matched to Your Budget
Premium tier: Carrier Infinity variable-speed, Trane XV, Lennox SL. Mid-tier: Bryant Evolution, Goodman GSXC. Bosch IDS heat pumps as the modern default. We tell you straight which tier makes sense for your home and how long you plan to live in it.
Ductwork Check Included
We test your existing ductwork during the estimate — static pressure, leakage, sizing. An undersized return or a leaky supply trunk will choke any new system. If duct work is needed, we quote it up front.
Permits & Haul-Away
Every install pulled to permit, signed off by the inspector. Old unit hauled away the same trip. Refrigerant recovered per EPA rules. Manufacturer warranty registered with the manufacturer at install.

What an honest AC install actually costs
AC install pricing is highly variable, but here’s the honest range:
- 3-ton single-stage, mid-tier (Goodman / Bryant), existing ductwork OK: $8,500–$12,500.
- 4-ton variable-speed, premium tier (Carrier Infinity / Trane XV): $14,000–$19,000.
- Heat pump (Bosch IDS), replaces AC + furnace: $13,000–$20,000. Federal/state rebates often cover $2,000–$4,000 of this.
- Add for ductwork modifications: $1,500–$6,000 depending on scope. Most homes don’t need this; some do.
- Add for panel upgrade: if your electrical panel is undersized for the new equipment, $1,500–$4,000 with an electrician.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know what size system I need?
Manual J load calculation. We walk your house, measure insulation, windows, ceiling heights, and existing duct capacity, then calculate the actual cooling load. Rule-of-thumb “500 sq ft per ton” guessing produces oversized systems that short-cycle and wear out compressors prematurely. We use real math.
Which brand should I pick?
Depends on your budget and how long you plan to live in the home. Premium-tier Carrier Infinity / Trane XV / Lennox SL: 20-year horizon, lowest electric bills, highest install cost. Mid-tier Bryant / Goodman: 12-15 year horizon, reasonable bills, lower install cost. Bosch heat pump as the modern default if you’re replacing both AC and furnace. We tell you straight what matches your situation.
How long does installation take?
Like-for-like replacement (same tonnage, ductwork adequate): typically a full day. Conversion (e.g., gas-furnace-plus-AC to heat pump, or duct modifications): 1-2 days. We give you a real ETA before scheduling.
What rebates and financing are available?
Federal Inflation Reduction Act rebates of up to $2,000 for qualifying high-efficiency heat pumps and central AC systems. California TECH Clean California offers additional rebates. We help identify which rebates your install qualifies for and handle the paperwork.
Are you licensed for this?
Yes — CSLB #1001659, C-20 HVAC classification. General liability and workers’ comp. Every install permit-pulled and inspector-signed. Manufacturer warranty registered for you.
